Jos Buttler was sold to Gujarat Titans for 15.75 crore. In Marquee Set 2, India bowlers Yuzvendra Chahal, Mohammed Shami, and Mohammed Siraj ruled. Chahal got 18 crore from PBKS. Shami was picked up for 10 Crore by SRH while Siraj went to GT for 12.25 Crore. Among top batters, KL Rahul, quite expectedly went for big bucks. DC paid 14 crore for the opener on Day 1 of IPL Auction 2025. The two-day auction at Jeddah in Saudi Arabia will begin with two sets of marquee players. Among those 13 marquee players, only David Miller has a base price of 1.5 Crore, while the others have kept their base price at 2 crore. Australian pacer Mitchell Starc smashed auction records last time when he signed with Kolkata Knight Riders for 24.75 crore. He was picked up by the Delhi Capitals for 11.75 crore this time around. Shreyas Iyer has already broken his record this year.

Chennai Super Kings pulled out of the fray once KKR raised their bid to INR 8.25 crore. Lucknow Super Giants then briefly entered the race to acquire Shami, but soon, they pulled out too.

KKR had Shami until INR 9.75 crore, but SunRisers Hyderabad entered the bidding war at the last moment, raising the bid to INR 10 crore. KKR then decided to pull out, and the bid was with SRH.

Gujarat Titans were then asked whether they would like to exercise their right-to-match card, and it was then that head coach Ashish Nehra vehemently shook his head, to say no.

As soon as Mohammed Shami was sold to SunRisers Hyderabad, fans took to social media to express their frustration with Gujarat Titans for not using the RTM option for Shami.
